  • We are seeking a warm, capable and proactive Teacher Aide to join our dynamic Early Learning and Primary team at The Launceston Preparatory School.

    This part-time position supports our classroom teachers in fostering a caring, purposeful and engaging environment where each child is supported in their learning and wellbeing journey.

    At The LPS, we follow the Paideia philosophy, which focuses on educating the whole child - mind, body, and heart.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support teaching staff in preparing and delivering learning activities

    • Work alongside students to encourage participation and confidence

    • Assist in maintaining a calm, orderly, and inclusive classroom

    • Help with general duties to support the flow of the school day

    • Providing assistance with the educational program under the direction of a teacher, working with individuals or small groups of students

    • Assisting teachers with the care of students on school excursions, sports days and other classroom or playground activities

    • Supervising and participating in activities to improve the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children

    • Collecting data and observations of students who are on / proposed to be on Individualised Learning Plans

    • Take part in actively fostering and improving the strong identity and culture of our school

    We Are Looking For Someone Who

    • Has a genuine love of working with children and a calm, positive manner

    • Can work collaboratively within a small and highly dedicated staff team

    • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and professionalism in all interactions

    • Understands and supports the school’s commitment to child safeguarding

    • Holds or is willing to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People card (Tas.)

    Previous experience in a school or early learning setting is desirable but not essential. A Certificate III or IV in Education Support is highly regarded.

  • The Launceston Preparatory School is seeking enthusiastic, adaptable and student-focused relief teachers to join our highly dedicated teaching team.

    As a relief teacher at The LPS, you will step into classrooms where curiosity, connection and creativity are central. You will be responsible for guiding students through purposeful learning experiences, while ensuring continuity of care and fostering the well-rounded development of each child.

    • Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate high-quality learning activities, maintaining strong classroom engagement and flow, whilst aligning to the School’s Paideia Phiolosophy.

    • Pastoral Care & Whole Child Development: Nurture students’ social, emotional, physical, and intellectual wellbeing through a caring and inclusive approach.

    • Assessment & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide relevant feedback where appropriate.

    • Extra-Curricular Involvement (where necessary): Contribute to the wider life of the school, including excursions, sport, and creative experiences.

    • Professional Conduct: Uphold The LPS standards of professionalism, safety, and care at all times.

    • Role Modelling: Demonstrate respect, integrity, and responsibility, serving as a positive role model for students.

    • Life-long Learning: Show openness to professional growth and reflective practice, modelling curiosity and a growth mindset.

    We Are Looking For Someone Who

    • Is a qualified and registered teacher (Tasmania) with a love of working with children, as well as hold a Working With Vulnerable People card and Certificate in Safeguarding Children (desirable).

    • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic learning environment.

    • Builds strong, respectful relationships with students, staff and families.

    • Upholds the school’s safeguarding responsibilities and maintains a safe and inclusive environment.

    • Brings initiative, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit to their work.
